A Personal Note: My Bridal Shower

On a gorgeous Saturday in June some of my nearest and dearest traveled to one of my favorite places in the world for a beautiful bridal shower lunch at Charlie’s in Bay Head, New Jersey. My mom lives nearby and it is a little town that my sister and I grew up coming to when we would visit our grandparents during the summer months.

Despite a busy schedule, I chose to do the flowers myself for the shower which was my own way of thanking my hosts and expressing the joy I feel at this new chapter in my life.

All images in this post were photographed by my dear friend Nicole of Sea Salt & Honey Photography. If you’re ever looking for a family or events photographer in the coastal New Jersey area, she’s your girl! One of my dearest friends and collaborators hair and makeup artist Melissa Formica traveled to get my Mom and I ready with hair and makeup and I loved seeing my mom feel so pampered!

I absolutely loved my dress! It was The Pippa Dress from Emily Hertz of Born on Fifth’s collaboration with Antonio Melani for Dillard’s. The idea of an English garden party wove its way through all of our wedding celebrations and this dress, with a femme floral print, peplum, and grosgrain ribbon shoulder ties, was absolutely perfect and so celebratory. I did have it tailored a bit to perfect the fit – something I always recommend doing, especially for brides!

I also wore The English Garden Rose earrings by my friend Nicola Bathie McLaughlin. I just love her whimsical and romantic jewelry line so much — I am constantly reaching for her pieces.

I am blessed with some very fabulous friends (shoutout to my Friends to Learn From series!) and they all have incredible taste in accessories. A few Chanel bags made a cameo! This one belongs to my friend Meg.

My mother is truly my hero. She is so strong, and I was overcome seeing her when I walked into the room.

All smiles with my gorgeous sister, and Maid of Honor, Mary!

Meet Jessie (left) and Meg (right) of aforementioned Chanel bag fame! My gals definitely got the blue and white memo. Meg is also wearing a dress from the Born on Fifth x Antonio Melani collaboration!

My incredible friend – and bridesmaid! – Samantha and I go back to our earliest days in New York City where we both met working for the same fashion designer. She’s wearing a dress by one of my favorite new brands for a flirty party dress, V. Chapman.

This day was truly one of the happiest of my life. I’m so grateful for all the women who made it so special!
