A Peek Inside a Wedding Planning Business
Lauren Zizza is the founder of Lauren Zizza Events, a full-service wedding and event planning company based in New York, that also specializes in destination weddings. I sat down with Lauren to talk about passion, wardrobe staples, and taking the entrepreneurial leap.
What’s your favorite part about your job?
Making people happy. Planning a wedding can be extremely stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! I love helping people turn their dreams into a reality. It’s one of the happiest days in a person’s life, and I’m honored that I get to be part of such a monumental and special moment.
What’s one thing that helped you grow in your career?
After 8 years in the corporate world, I knew my previous job wasn’t my calling. I was unhappy and unsatisfied, and I knew it was time to take the leap and start my own business. I had been planning parties and events for years, but finally decided to make it official. With the support of family and friends, and help from girl bosses like Catherine of PDV, I started Lauren Zizza Events and I’ve never been happier with my decision.
What work outfit makes you feel powerful?
The outfit that makes me feel most powerful is my cape—quite literally! It’s comfy, chic, and easy to move in (which is a necessity when I’m running around the day of a wedding). It’s definitely my go-to, and should be a staple in every woman’s wardrobe.
What drives you?
My passion is what drives me. I love creating, designing, organization, and meeting new people. I don’t have to wake up and do my job—I get to do my job!
